About

Shima-Asana

Where easy life flows

and the tropical garden grows

In yoga, "asana" means "posture." Nowadays, there are many different types of asana, but originally it only meant one thing: a posture suitable for meditation. The posture must be stable and comfortable. The important thing is that your back is straight. The ancient Indian teaching was to use this posture as a foundation to seek peace of mind.

I think the key to happiness is the "island attitude/posture." Slow, island time. Simplicity. The luxury of doing nothing. Warm, comfortable, calm air all year round. You don't even question these. You don't have any worries.

I hope you can feel these things one by one in Shima Asana. A ticket to paradise is here. A feeling of contentment. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You will understand; a life like this might be possible; another version of you might have been like this.

The interior design and layout follow the traditional Okinawan style. There are few partitions inside, to be well-ventilated. There is a large garden on the south side, and large windows open up. This is a way to let the breeze in from the south, making it comfortable in the summer.

However, as a characteristic of Okinawan housing, there is no bathtub. This is because we don't have a custom of soaking in a long bath. There is only a shower. Thank you for your understanding.

Our Story

Yoga is included. One lesson (60 minutes) will be provided free of charge per night.

This will be on the rooftop, or in a Japanese-style room on tatami mats. For you, it will feel like a private lesson in your own home.

Choose your preferred time, such as morning yoga or sunset yoga.

Local Family Villa & Yoga

If you have never done yoga before, don't worry. The program will be centered on gentle stretching, deep breathing, and clearing your mind.

I think there are some people who are stiff or have knee/back problems. Just relax your body and calm your breathing. Along with that, your mind would also be calmed down. I hope that your stresses in your daily life are relieved.

We won't do any acrobatic poses. It's a private lesson, so we'll adjust it to suit you.

Hello. Please call me Kohei.

I have taught yoga on Ishigaki Island for 8 years. Now, I have an opportunity to open a lodge with my wife. Since I have experience of teaching yoga, I thought it would be good to offer a lodging plan that includes yoga.

I hope that those who have missed out on yoga in the past will be able to experience it here. It's completely private, so there's nothing to be hesitant about. It's a great help that you don't have to fit in with the people around you.

If you have any other questions about yoga, please check out our FAQ section .
